The Eclaro Academy Story
Eclaro established global delivery operations in Manila in the Philippines in 2009. Our principals witnessed firsthand the poverty in the Philippines, and sought to implement benefits and opportunities for their employees.
In November 2013, Eclaro acquired a small BPO firm. With the new acquisition came a vocational center and an accredited four-year college, later rebranded as Eclaro Academy. This was an additional way to give back to their employees and to support the local community.
One in every 10 Filipinos aged 6 to 24 years is an out of school child and youth (Philippine Statistics Authority), which equates to 3.8 million children and youth that are not getting an education. According to the 2016 Annual Poverty Indicators Survey, for 20.2% the reason is the high cost of education or financial concerns. Nationwide, about 53% of the youth not attending schools belong to families whose income fall at the bottom 30 percent based on their per capita income.
Eclaro offers subsidies to employees and their families to attend Eclaro Academy, continuing education programs to Eclaro employees, and works with the school to hire Eclaro Academy graduates as employees. With premium educators and facilities, and an average student to faculty ratio of 25:1, we are proud to offer a quality education to over 2,400 students.
From an initial group of 18 students, the Eclaro Academy grew into a full-fledged academic institution offering pre-school, grade school and high school levels, as well as college degrees with 6 majors, including Computer Science, Accounting and Communications.
Today, Eclaro Academy offers three campuses and prides itself with all of its course offerings, being recognized and accredited by the Department of Education (DepEd), Technical Education Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and the Commission on Higher Education. Eclaro Academy has recently been accredited as a certified training partner of the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Academy, offering a curriculum designed to help students develop technical expertise in cloud computing and prepares them for AWS certification.
